Opened in 1994, the Gramercy Tavern has set about reviving American cuisine, albeit with an obvious contemporary twist. The luxurious surroundings hark back to the warm, antiquity of a traditional American restaurant circa 1940, brought bang up to date with unimposing wall murals by Robert Kushner, and contemporary furnishing concepts by Bentel and Bentel. A range of menus compliment, and defy the traditional ambiance, with á la carte offerings that include Squash Salad with Black Olives, Red Snapper nestled on a bed of kale, drizzled with squash sauce, and the juicy Hanger Steak – now a trademark dish of the Gramercy. Dinner comprises of taste-bud enhancing Red Ruby Shrimp or Lamb Parpadelle to start, along with Smoked Arctic Char or Confit of Duck as main course options. The tavern menu is decidedly more casual, however you’ll still find a tasty and eclectic array of dishes to satisfy that rumble!
