“Strictly no reservations” states Emiliano Coppa, Al dí la’s owner and master of operations – a rule that’s stuck for the ten years Al di la has been serving the people of Brooklyn. The elegantly simple trattoria smacks of bygone eras, with ornate high ceilings and airy windows adding to it’s nostalgic atmosphere. The idea is to draw attention away from the fixtures and fittings, and over to where the real magic happens – at the bar and kitchen. Rosticciana is a particularly enjoyable feat of flammable roasting, producing sumptuous ribs with just a hint of the carbon that gives them such flavor. Risotto is hand stirred to perfection, and the ravioli has kept customers coming back week-in, week-out, for years. Al di la’s wine list is perhaps one of the most extensive you’ll ever see within an Italian restaurant, with inclusions to compliment every single dish on the menu, be it appetizer or dessert!
