Mario Batali’s chic and spacious Greenwich restaurant is everything a great Italian should be. Ambiant, packed on a nightly basis, and renowned for unique dishes that have somehow caught the attention of even foreign foodies who have never sampled Babbo’s creations. Acclaimed for it’s multifarious stock of vintage wines, Babbo’s seems to be driven by the motivation to combine intelligence with creativity – a mission evident when you peruse the contemporary menu. Marinated Sardines tempt the palate with a verdant bed of caramelized fennel and drizzled lobster oil to “add bite”, yet the Roasted Beef Tartare dressed with chianti vinegar and ricotta salata presents a drool-inducing contrast of flavors – all this before you’ve even got to the mains and entrees. Two Minute Calamari and Barbecued Squab are just some of the delights to choose from, however Charred Beef Tongue and Rabbit present exciting alternatives, on a journey into the flavors that constitute true Mexican fayre.
