Man Shot By Police After Bar Fight in Brooklyn

Early Sunday morning, an undercover police officer who was responding to reports of a bar fight fatally shot a 43-year-old security guard who had opened fire inside the bar. A 19-year-old man with a gun also involved in the fight was wounded by police.

It was a raging fight that drew police attention at Norwood Palace Sports Bar in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn, where patrons’ smashed bar stools over each other’s heads.

NYC Seizes Property Linked To Iran


In a unique move, the federal government has seized several properties, including mosques, in New York City and several other locations that they believe are tied to Iran.

According to the Justice Department, the properties are owned by the Alavi Foundation, a nonprofit group that the government believes is funneling money to Iran, violating sanctions that Washington has set on trade with the country.

In an unusual move, the city has bought nearly seven acres of land in the middle of Coney Island from Thor Equities, the company that originally planned to renovate Coney Island and turn the area into a major tourist destination.

After countless battles with the people living in that area, many were fed up with the lack of progress in getting Coney Island up and running. Seeing an opportunity, the Bloomberg Administration bought 6.9 of the 10.5 acres that Thor had originally purchased and will share ownership of the area.

Shooting At Brooklyn Deli Leaves Three Injured

A drive-by shooting at around 7p.m. in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, sent three people to the hospital with gunshot wounds – one of them a pregnant woman.

The gunman was reportedly driving a white Cadillac Escalade when he started shooting at a group of eight or nine people standing in front of the DeKalb Gourmet Deli. The pregnant woman seemed to be the most seriously hurt of the crowd, with a gunshot to her thigh. Police arrived from the 88th precinct, located just a block away from the scene.
