Bloomberg Titled “Worst Individual Polluter” in Office

NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg

New York is a relatively green place and most New Yorker’s carbon footprints are tiny. However, our Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, who has received a ton of praise for his environmental agenda, might be the worst individual polluter to hold public office, according to the New York Times.

Times columnist Jim Dwyer attacks Bloomberg for his usage of his fleet of personal aircraft, including a helicopter and two Falcon 900 jets. Bloomberg uses these often, to go to Washington DC, weekend vacations to Bermuda, as well as lengthier voyages, like his upcoming trip to Copenhagen, where ironically, he will be discussing climate change. …continue reading

Bloomberg Vetoes Parking Grace Period Bill

Mayor Bloomberg...

Despite the fact that the New York City Council passed a bill that would allow a mere five minute grace period for people whose parking meter time has expired, the mayor has rebuffed an almost unanimous vote by representatives by vetoing the bill.

The bill would have given drivers a five minute grace period during alternate side parking and after their Muni-Meter time has expired. The bill would not have even applied to coin operated parking meters.

Alas, the mayor has once again gone against the will of the people (on a seemingly minor issue) and has denied the bill’s passage in yet …continue reading

Former Senate Leader Joseph Bruno Guilty on 2 Counts

Convicted Felon Joseph Bruno

The New York Senate is one of the most corrupt political bodies in the country and two major court decisions this week have begun what will hopefully become a trend in putting corrupt politicians in their place.

After finding State Senator Hiram Monserrate guilty on assault charges stemming from a fight with his girlfriend that ended in him slashing her face (although he got off far too easy), a jury has found former Senate Majority Leader of 13 years Joseph Bruno guilty on two counts of corruption.

The former top state Republican faces 40 years in jail …continue reading

ACORN Did Nothing ‘Illegal’

acorn

After being hammered for purging thousands of eligible voters in Florida in 2000 in one of the biggest cases of election fraud of all time, Republicans countered by blaming the liberal group ACORN for any and all voting irregularities (of which there have been none).

Finally thinking they had something on ACORN when some amateur filmmakers candidly shot the ACORN employees advising them (while they were dressed as a pimp and his prostitute) on which paperwork to fill out to get help finding a place to stay, Republicans seized on the opportunity and quickly called for all federal …continue reading

Gay Activists Plan Major Marriage Campaign

Perhaps surprised by the New York Senate voting down a bill that would have legalized same-sex marriage in the state, gay activists have awakened with a fury and are planning the same kind of pro-gay marriage campaign that opponents have used against them.

After gay marriage was shockingly overturned in California after it was already legalized, New York state senators rebuffed Governor David Paterson who had introduced the bill. The New York State Assembly had overwhelmingly passed the bill before the it was put to a vote in the Senate.

As the dust of the debate settled, gay marriage activists realized that they …continue reading
