High-end clothing store Barneys recently unloaded some of their financial woes and is considering opening up a store in Brooklyn.

Like every other store, Barneys has had to endure a ton of financial difficulties in the last year and lost a lot of money. They weren’t paying all of their pills on time, forcing their parent company, Istithmar, to pump $25 million into the chain, despite their own financial problems. Man Shot By Police After Bar Fight in Brooklyn

Crime Scene at Norwood Palace Sports Bar

Early Sunday morning, an undercover police officer who was responding to reports of a bar fight fatally shot a 43-year-old security guard who had opened fire inside the bar. A 19-year-old man with a gun also involved in the fight was wounded by police.

It was a raging fight that drew police attention at Norwood Palace Sports Bar in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn, where patrons’ smashed bar stools over each other’s heads.

Shooting At Brooklyn Deli Leaves Three Injured

A drive-by shooting at around 7p.m. in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, sent three people to the hospital with gunshot wounds – one of them a pregnant woman.

The gunman was reportedly driving a white Cadillac Escalade when he started shooting at a group of eight or nine people standing in front of the DeKalb Gourmet Deli. The pregnant woman seemed to be the most seriously hurt of the crowd, with a gunshot to her thigh. Police arrived from the 88th precinct, located just a block away from the scene.

Brooklyn Unemployment Rate Higher Than National

Many people were dismayed to see the national unemployment rate rise above 10 percent for the first time in three decades but that rate is even higher in Brooklyn where 125,000 people are out of work.

The Department of Labor announced earlier this month that the federal unemployment rate has hit 10.2%, the highest that it has been in more than 25 years. Later, the Labor Department also disclosed that the unemployment rate in Brooklyn had hit 11 percent.
