 Designer Alexander McQueen, RIP
The associate press reports:
LONDON – A bereaved Alexander McQueen left a note, then hanged himself in his apartment on the eve of his mother’s funeral, a coroner’s inquest said Wednesday, giving the cause of the fashion designer’s death as asphyxiation and hanging.
The inquest has yet to formally deliver a ruling of suicide, but police said there were no suspicious circumstances.
Coroner’s official Lynda Martindill told the inquest at Westminster Coroner’s Court that the body of 40-year-old McQueen was found in an armoire at his London apartment on Thursday. In the dispassionate language of the inquest, she referred to …continue reading
PETA's ad featuring Michelle Obama.. without her permission
Both PETA and Weatherproof recently put out ads featuring the first couple without their permission, and even though the White House was upset… the ads will most likely stay up.
PETA president Ingrid Newkirk told Robin Givhan of the Washington Post:
“We got a call from the White House counsel’s office,” Newkirk says. “We said to them, we’re not selling a coat, only an idea that glamorous beautiful women who you look up to don’t wear fur. . . . We’re honoring her. Lawyers are lawyers, but PETA is honoring her fashion sense.” So there.

Model Karen Elson and Actress/Model Angelina Jolie
The high-end designer has been using Angelina Jolie as their model for the last few years, but this year they have decided to drop Angelina and hire red-head model Karen Elson.
They said that Angelina Jolie overshadows the brand, and they wanted a more low-key model. A spokesperson for the company said, “We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette.”
Though Karen Elson is anything but unnoticeable. Her past campaigns for Yves Saint Laurent have proved that the model is absolutley stunning, and it is almost …continue reading

Supermodel and fashion icon Agyness Deyn
The snow has barely melted and there will probably be more to come, but the fashion world is already looking towards spring.
The New York Times reports that the look for spring will be sort of mannish, involving lots of over-sized t-shirts, boyfriend blazers, worn jeans and biker jackets.
