Did you hear that? That was the collective sound of thousands hearts belonging to Mets fans breaking across the five boroughs. Again. This past weekend marked the first Subway Series of the season and, in reliable fashion, the Mets imploded. The team managed to bring lots of hope and promise to its fans on Friday when they won the series opener at Yankee Stadium. After a busy week that saw a blockbuster trade that sent Cliff Lee to the Mariners and Roy Halladay to the Phillies as well as signings that sent John Lackey and Mike Cameron to Boston, the New York Mets have begun getting into the action and are reportedly close to signing former Red Sox outfielder Jason Bay.

The Yankees were on a mission to get Detroit Tigers star outfielder Curtis Granderson when team officials arrived in Indianapolis for the annual General Managers meetings and get him they did.

In a blockbuster trade, the New York Yankees have received Curtis Granderson in a three-way megatrade earlier this week.

The Yankees gave up starter Ian Kennedy to the Diamondbacks and top prospect outfielder Austin Jackson and reliever Phil Coke to the Tigers. The Tigers traded Granderson to the Yankees and starter Edwin Jackson to the Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks traded starting pitcher Max Scherzer and pitching prospect Daniel Schlereth to the Tigers.

Sanchez Hurts Knee as Jets Make Playoff Push

As the Jets make an unlikely playoff push in the AFC, they summoned a man who has already won a championship this year, Yankee manager Joe Girardi.

The Jets asked Girardi to work on sliding with quarterback Mark Sanchez who has impressed fans with his legs as much as his powerful (though often inaccurate) arm.

The Jets had been worried about Sanchez’s playing style of late. Aside from his reckless disregard when passing or carrying the ball, the Jets are more worried about Sanchez seriously hurting himself sliding head first.

Bob Sheppard Hangs it Up

At 99-years-old, the legendary voice of the Yankees and New York Giants Bob Sheppard has officially called it quits this week ending a truly iconic era in the booth.

Sheppard was the voice of the Yankees for more than fifty years, serving in the booth from 1951 to 2007 and the New York Giants from 1956 to 2006.
